A People-Centered Vision for Housing, Health, and Education

New Britain for All is a grassroots campaign committed to building a city where everyone has access to stable housing, quality education, and mental healthcare. We believe that no one should be displaced, punished, or pushed aside because of poverty. Through organizing, advocacy, and direct community engagement, we are fighting for a New Britain that puts people before profits.

Our Core Objectives

  • Advocate for anti-gentrification policies to protect affordable housing and prevent displacement.

  • Promote public investment in housing, education, and mental health services.

  • Oppose the criminalization of poverty and homelessness, and fight for compassionate, community-based solutions.

Community Events and Education

Our campaign isn't just about advocacy—it's about building power and knowledge in the hands of residents. Throughout the year, we host a series of events focused on political education, strategy development, and direct action. These gatherings are open to all and designed to ensure the community leads every step of the process.

Gentrification Education Series

This workshop series explores the root causes of displacement and rising housing costs in New Britain. Together, we examine how development, zoning, and speculative investment contribute to gentrification—and how we can fight back. Sessions include:

  • History of housing and displacement in New Britain

  • Current development trends and how they impact renters

  • Policy solutions and organizing strategies led by affected communities

Community Budget Forums

Held annually, our Community Budget Forum is a space where residents come together to set our vision for the city’s budget. We review priorities in housing, education, and mental health—and use this forum to guide our campaign for the upcoming year. The forum includes:

  • A community-led goal-setting process

  • Open discussion on neighborhood needs

  • Collaborative strategy development for budget advocacy

City Budget Info Sessions

We believe knowledge is power. Our City Budget Info Sessions break down the proposed budget and demystify the entire process—from the mayor’s proposal to city council votes. These sessions are designed to help residents:

  • Understand how the budget works and who makes the decisions

  • Analyze the proposed allocations and their impact on our communities

  • Identify opportunities for public influence and action

Public Testimony Trainings

Speaking at public hearings is one of the most powerful ways to influence city decisions. Our Testimony Trainings help residents learn how to share their stories and advocate effectively. Trainings cover:

  • How to write and deliver impactful public testimony

  • Tips for speaking at city council meetings and budget hearings

  • One-on-one coaching and support for first-time speakers
