Alternative 2 Incarceration (A2I) is a program that brings together current and formerly incarcerated individuals, advocating for evidence-based alternatives to incarceration in our community. Research indicates that incarceration fails to address the root causes of antisocial behaviors, often exacerbating the issues. A2I promotes preventative, public health-based solutions when harm occurs, with a focus on closing prisons and establishing non-carceral rehabilitation centers. The Voices from the Inside collection features compelling articles by individuals currently incarcerated in Connecticut prisons, offering insights into the impact of incarceration on themselves and their families, along with proposed solutions for safer communities.
