To organize poor and working-class people in the greater New Britain area around progressive causes that promote racial and economic justice. 

New Britain Racial Justice Coalition (NBRJC) engages in legislative advocacy by organizing community members around policies that impact working-class communities, particularly in the areas of housing, public education, criminal justice reform, and economic justice. The organization educates residents on proposed legislation, coordinates testimony and public comment at hearings, meets with elected officials, and mobilizes community members to contact legislators and participate in advocacy campaigns. NBRJC also works in coalition with other grassroots and advocacy organizations across Connecticut to push for systemic reforms, including investments in public education, expanded tenant protections, decarceration policies, reentry support, and alternatives to policing and incarceration.

Connecticut People’s Survival Programs (CT-PSP) was founded in 2023 as a 501c3 affiliate organization of the New Britain Racial Justice Coalition (NBRJC) to expand and deepen community-based work across Connecticut. Modeled after the survival programs created by the Black Panther Party, CT-PSP works to meet immediate community needs while building long-term people power through grassroots organizing and civic education. The organization provides free community programming, direct support services, grassroots organizing, and educational initiatives focused on empowering working-class communities and advancing racial and economic justice.
